Module #2: Customising The “Look And Feel” Of Your WordPress Site

Who Is This For?

Anyone who has their own WordPress site and wants to be able to customise it, to better suit their needs and improve the visitor experience

Please note: Like all our WordPress training courses, this is a hands-on workshop.  It has been designed so you will leave at the end of the training, with having enabling WordPress skills you did not have before. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own wireless internet laptop computer.  If you can’t do this, we can provide a laptop for the course for additional cost (see our extras).  Please let us know in advance.

Our Requirements For Acceptance:

You must have good basic computer skills, eg. you can connect to the internet, check and send email, go to a specific website address, browse website pages etc, all with ease.

Plus, You already have a working WordPress website, but want to change the look and add new functions.

This Course Module Covers:

  • Adding, adjusting and removing Widgets, to alter sidebar navigation and features
  • Using Widgets to earn some money from your site (if you want to).
  • Changing the header image and using post-specific header images (default theme)
  • Using a custom Background image
  • Finding and installing new Themes, to customise the appearance and layout of the site.
  • Setting a specific Page as the site front page
  • Customising the Top Navigation menu (in default theme)
  • Using Plugins to add specific extra functionality (eg spam protected contact form)
  • Controlling Comments, left by site visitors
  • Activating the plug-in Akismet to fight spam in your comments
  • Adding extra users with different roles
